In collaboration with industry, particularly “Karl Storz SE & Co. KG,” and with the support of Prof. Jorge Correia Pinto, we established an experimental surgery center at the ICVS equipped for “hands-on” courses using live animal models. Since its opening, I have contributed to numerous courses in urology, providing training in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques, including prostatectomy and cystectomy.
Beyond surgical technique courses, we developed programs in surgical innovation, allowing participants to engage with new technologies, innovative instruments, and modern surgical approaches. The ICVS has been a pioneer in courses on NOTES (Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery), single-port surgery, and new endoscopic techniques. More recently, I organized various courses at the “Academia CUF” and, in 2023, successfully coordinated a masterclass on surgical treatment of benign prostate obstruction with Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
In total, I have organized around 23 postgraduate activities at the School of Medicine at Universidade do Minho, 7 postgraduate activities at “Academia CUF,” and one course with “Ahed-Advanced Health Education” at the Nova Medical School.
